Pieter Bruegel the Elder painted The Fall of the Rebel Angels in 1562. The original oil-on-oak panel is held by the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium in Brussels. It shows Archangel Michael and the loyal angels driving the rebels from heaven while their bodies transform into demons made from animals, insects, shells, armor, weapons, musical instruments and scientific objects.
